# Grade 12 Accounting help and matric revision

[Original web page](https://precisionbooksandlearning.co.za/en/grade-12-accounting)

In matric, you need to calculate and explain what the numbers mean. A useful revision plan makes room for both.

## Connect every answer to the question.

Read the instruction word before answering: calculate, compare and explain ask for different things. For a comment question, a percentage on its own is not enough. Name the indicator, use the relevant figure and explain what it means in the given situation. Make sure the information supports your conclusion.

## Use past papers as feedback.

Start with a topic you have recently revised. Attempt questions under timed conditions, then mark them with the memorandum. Record where you lost marks and redo that section without the answer beside you. Check older questions against your current schoolwork and examination guidelines; an older paper may not match your current scope exactly.

## Choose one weak area at a time.

Whether you struggle with financial statements, reconciliations or interpretation, name the exact step where you get stuck. “I don’t know how to read this adjustment” is a more useful starting point than “I can’t do Accounting”. Tell me which topics and question types give you the most trouble.

## Questions about this grade

### Are past papers enough for matric revision?

Past papers help you apply knowledge and practise timing, but use them alongside concept revision and your current examination scope. Mark your work and redo incorrect sections later without the memorandum. Check that older questions fit your current work.

### How can I improve answers to comment questions?

Read the instruction word and select the relevant figures. State what you are comparing and explain what the difference means in the given situation. Avoid a general statement that the information in the question does not support.

### Does extra support guarantee a particular mark?

No particular mark is guaranteed. The aim is to strengthen understanding, practice routines and the approach to difficult questions. The learner’s own work and the requirements of the assessment remain part of the learning process.
